BOAAT holds bi-annual chapbook competitions [summer & winter] with guest judges whose books our staff have read over & over & over again. Our chapbook editors select a handful of the best manuscripts to send our guest judge who then chooses a winner & a few finalists. We also solicit one to two chapbook manuscripts a year from emerging writers that deserve to be seen.

Our finalists' and winning chapbooks are available in a free PDF download & for each winning chapbook we construct one hundred handmade limited editions for poetry collectors. Every books is signed by the author. BOAAT puts a massive amount of work & love into each chapbook. We hand-make paper covers using cotton linters, banana peels, seaweed, & wildflowers. Our binding method is a Japanese style called Asa-no-ha-Toji, which is absolutely stunning(!). We use thick 25% cotton ivory paper to print on. These are made to order & take two to six weeks to ship depending on the volume of purchases.

We want you to read what we publish before purchasing our limited edition chapbooks, or you can print it yourself. It is available to all.

Some copies of our winning chapbooks are sold at Berl's Brooklyn Poetry Shop, the only all poetry bookstore in NYC, and McNally Jackson Books in Manhattan, NY.
