Nightfall Rulebook

No girl should comb her hair at night
if her brother is at sea

better she lay belly-down
and breathe into the floor

listen to the stones rain on the roof

Have her mother lock her dresses
in a drawer and leave the key

inside the lips of any dying soldier

The girl should stay there without food
except for bitter fruits

until the night itself becomes a sweet
and she discovers hunger for it
