The Bistro Incommunicado
has a special  Buy any two

apocrypha and take home
an omen today

Partisans bury their accordions
out back  Wistful French

accents seasoning their
demurrals  Yes I drove

the bread truck through
the checkpoint  No I did

not swallow my commas
and grow strong enough to bed

Giselle  We pay no mind
to their comparisons

For those in the know
failure is always exotic

To be deceased is to achieve
technically perfect

nostalgia  To boogie
in a supernova’s strobe

while standing still
We have many miniature

things to think about
We sip from the blue goblet

of our seizures and watch
the grammar of the phantasm

Nebula  Comet  Necropolis
It’s not that we don’t

believe in the capital Him
We’re just waiting for

a better story to come along

Here in the dead letter office
Petrarch is angry  He gave us

romantic love so we would
never have to surrender

our monologues to
the beloved  Otherwise

the poem careens toward
collapse  Like Marilyn

Monroe swimming her
way into a palm

of Nembutal  We spend
all this time in the cellar

trying to get the night-
blooming acronyms to crack

open  As if there wasn’t
always more

cramped language
where that came from
